Maritime Academy in Harlingen

The Maritime Academy in Harlingen is a non-profit secondary and vocational professional school in the maritime and inland navigation field. The institute is part of the conglomerate of maritime schools in the northern part of the Netherlands, the Maritime Academy Holland. At the Maritime Academy Holland approximately 2,400 regular students follow professional secondary, vocational and bachelor training in the field of inland waterway transport and maritime education. In addition, the Maritime Academy also provides adult training. The institute is one of the major players in the Netherlands focusing on education of (young) students in the field of maritime and inland waterway transport, making use of state-of-the-art training facilities, such as three own training vessels, a set of contemporary laboratories and a newly build dedicated inland navigation simulator. The institute is furthermore involved in all Netherlands and European activities concerning the creation and discussing of inland waterway transport competencies and examinations and has gained extensive experience in the development and conduction of train-the-trainer programs for maritime and inland waterway education in many different countries
